MUW art department presents ceramics exhibits
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The art department at Mississippi University for Women welcomes “Functional Relationships,” a national juried ceramics exhibition,” and “Mississippi Mud,” a statewide invitational exhibit, with opening receptions on Friday, Jan. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“Functional Relationships,” which will be held at the MUW Art and Design Building, challenged the participating clay artists to create a group of functional objects that have visual and/or utilitarian harmony. Out of the 125 entries, 38 pieces have been chosen by jurors for display. Jurors are Matt Long, ceramics professor at the University of Mississippi, and Robert Long, ceramics professor at Mississippi State University. The exhibit will run until Feb. 4.
The Rosenzweig Art Center will host “Mississippi Mud,” which will highlight the diverse work of 16 potters and ceramic sculptors in the state of Mississippi. The exhibit will run until Jan. 30.
Both events are free and open to the public. Transportation will be provided between the receptions by the Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau.
