Town & Tower Club presents service awards
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Town & Tower Club recently presented awards at its annual Christmas program at Mississippi University for Women.
Each year awards are given to an MUW official and a community person for outstanding service.
This year’s recipients were William “Peppy” Biddy, chair of the department of music and theatre at MUW, and Bill and Leslie Threadgill.
Biddy, who has produced and directed more than 75 plays at MUW, was the recipient of the Kossen Faculty Excellence Award for 2007. He has been a full-time member of the faculty at MUW since 1991.
Leslie Threadgill is a 1952 graduate of MUW. Her family established the Leslie Farrell Threadgill Lecture and Artist Series to promote family and cultural influences, to advance the artistic and intellectual environment of the university and to strengthen the cultural bond between the university and the public.
A third award was presented to Brenda Caradine for her work with the Tennessee Williams Tribute and Tour of Victorian Homes.
Town & Tower’s purpose is to promote the mutual interests of Columbus and MUW. One of the activities sponsored by the club includes the annual Community Prayer Breakfast, which is scheduled for Feb. 4.
