Art professor receives notable awards
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Tom Nawrocki, art professor at Mississippi University for Women, recently received two awards for his artwork.
Nawrocki was recognized for his shaped dimensional digital print in the 20th North American Print Competition sponsored by the Los Angeles Printmaking Society at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. The exhibit will run through Dec. 31 in Los Angeles, Calif.
He also was awarded for his color intaglio diptych print in the 70th Exhibition of the American Color Print Society at The Plastic Club in Philadelphia, Pa., which will show through Nov. 29.
Nawrocki noted that the show in Los Angeles is probably the largest printmaking show in the world this year. “It’s fabulous to be recognized in that environment,” he said.
He also is presenting mezzotint prints in the 20cmMax – Miniature Print Exhibition in Tustin, Calif., at the Old Town Gallery through Jan. 16, and his prints will be illustrated in the upcoming book “Printers Today” by Schiffer Publishing.
