Center for Entrepreneurship to host business events

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Women’s Center for Entrepreneurship at Mississippi University for Women will be hosting a Business Resource Conference and Home-Based Business Extravaganza for local current and prospective business owners. Admission for both events is free and open to the public, however pre-registration is required.

The Business Resource Conference will be held Sept. 15, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Shattuck Hall on campus. Representatives from various community development organizations will be available to provide information to attendees. Current and prospective business owners are invited to attend the fair and meet with a number of resources important to small business owners.

The Home-Based Business Extravaganza will be held Sept. 17 at 9:30 a.m. in the upper level of the Hogarth Dining Center on campus. Individuals currently operating home-based businesses and those interested in starting a home-based business are invited to attend.

The home-based business event will begin with a roundtable discussion about issues related to starting and running an at-home operation. The day will include a free luncheon featuring keynote speakers from PoppySeed Paper, a successful home-based stationery business started by Robin Shelton and Blake Gray of Hoover, Ala.

Following the luncheon, the Home-Based Marketplace will open for business owners to showcase their products and/or services. The public is invited to interact with, ask questions, shop and support these home based businesses.
