CHAMPS Project to host conference
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Mississippi University for Women CHAMPS (Creating High Achievement in Mathematics and Problem Solving) project will host its CHAMPS Super Saturday Workshop Sept. 12, in Room 120 of the Education and Human Sciences Building. Now in its sixth year of existence, CHAMPS is sponsored by the Roger F. Wicker Center for Creative Learning at MUW.
The workshop will feature the IMPACT Teacher Leadership model and will be led by Ivey Ivy, crossroads project manager for the Wicker Center, and Kate Brown, associate director for the center.
Area teachers interested in learning hands-on mathematics techniques for the classroom are encouraged to attend. Registration fees are $20, and 0.5 continuing education units will be available for participants.
The CHAMPS Project works to improve teacher quality in 17 high-needs districts located in Northeast Mississippi by providing a comprehensive program of professional development.
