MUW Alumni Association announces Board of Directors
COLUMBUS, Miss. - The Alumni Association of Mississippi University for Women recently announced its 2009-2010 Board of Directors.
Dr. Pat Ainsworth from Brandon will serve as president. She is a 1970
graduate.
Ainsworth’s interest in leading the Association grew from her desire
to work with alumni to help MUW continue to thrive and flourish.
“MUW is one of the best kept educational secrets in the state,
perhaps in the Southeast. The W provides a quality academic program in a beautiful environment conducive to study while maintaining a surprisingly affordable tuition,” she said. “I especially like the small class size so that W students don't become anonymous faces to their instructors who themselves are fully qualified academics, not graduate students.”
Board members serving a one-year term are Becky Tate Cade ’76 and Renee Nick Flynt ’81, both from Jackson; Irene Turner Guthrie ’80
from Port Gibson and Kim Triplett ’97 from Starkville.
Board members serving a two-year term are Ainsworth, Pam Cook Baker ’72 from Gulfport, Abby Claypool ’06 and Tina Morgan ’88, both
from Columbus; Cindy Adams Dunbar ’81 from Ridgeland; Andrea Godwin Overby ’68 from Brentwood, Tenn.; and Kelley Downs Streib ’86 from Cranberry Township, Pa.
Board members serving a three-year term are Jenny Parker Bourne ’00 from Chickasaw, Ala.; Gloria Sykes Everson ’80 from Millington, Tenn.; Vint Ferguson ’87 and Mitzi Chandler Green ’77, both from Columbus; Ginny Thompson Grisard-Van Roey ’81 from Greer, S.C.; and Stephen Taylor ’99 from Boone, N.C.
As 2009-2010 chairman of the MUW Foundation Board of Directors, Dr. Eddie Betcher ’88 will serve on the MUW Alumni Association Board as well for the 2009-2010 year.
The MUW Alumni Association is officially affiliated with the university
and exists to support and promote the mission of MUW by establishing quality relationships between the university and its alumni. The association serves the university and its alumni by providing opportunities for alumni engagement with each other and in its efforts to advance MUW.
An event recently hosted by the MUW Alumni Association was the dinner for graduating seniors, where the newest alumni were informed about the importance of staying connected with their alma mater.
