MUW health fair to feature screenings; open to public
COLUMBUS, Miss. - Community members will enjoy free health screenings, massages and information on topics including cancer prevention, nutrition, fitness and fun at Mississippi University for Women’s community health fair on Feb. 25.
About 40 wellness and health promotion industry representatives will be on hand for the event, which is open to the public free of charge. The health fair will be held from 8 a.m. to noon in the Pohl gymnasium. A printable campus map is available at http://www.muw.edu/campusmap/.
Representatives from organizations including American Red Cross,
Baptist Memorial Hospital, the YMCA, Sisters Network, Columbus East Lions, and Golden Triangle Running and Cycling Club will have booths and offer information and screenings. Door prizes will be presented at the end of the event.
The Master of Science in Health Education Graduate Degree Program at MUW seeks to educate professionals who can facilitate the practical application of strategies that can assist individuals, schools, work-sites, communities and societies in adopting and maintaining healthy actions. The faculty is committed to the integration of teaching, research and service into an inclusive process of planning, implementing and evaluating successful health education interventions and policies and promoting evidence-based practices. The program also seeks to serve the community by providing educational resources aimed at preventing disease and improving the quality of life for those who are experiencing or have experienced disease.
