MUW Honors Forum Series Presents Mark Zupan
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The MUW Honors Forum Series will feature paralympic gold medalist Mark Zupan Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. in the Nissan Auditorium in Parkinson Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Zupan is the captain of the United States quadriplegic wheelchair rugby team and the official spokesperson for Team USA. He was the 2004 quad rugby player of the year and was a member of the bronze medal-winning U.S. team at the 2004 Summer Paralympics and the gold medal-winning team at the 2008 Games in Bejing.
After becoming paralyzed in 1993, the former soccer player channeled his competitive spirit into the new sport of wheelchair rugby. Zupan stars in the 2005 Sundance Film Festival award winning film “Murderball.” In 2006, he co-authored the book “Gimp.”
The Ina E. Gordy Honors College Forum Series is made possible by an endowment from Ina E. Gordy for whom the Honors College is named. Zupan’s presentation is co-sponsored by Columbus United Soccer Club.
