AT&T Teaching Circles for 2008-09 announced
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Five groups have been selected to comprise an innovative faculty development project at Mississippi University for Women. The disciplines covered by this year’s MUW Teaching Circles’ proposals include American studies, reading, literature, online education and women’s studies.
Developed last fall by Dr. Sandra Jordan, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and supported by MUW President Claudia Limbert, the teaching circles are funded by a $25,000 gift from AT&T Mississippi.
"We launched Teaching Circles to create opportunities to bring faculty members across departments and disciplines together to talk about teaching,” said Dr. Sandra Jordan, provost and vice president for academic affairs.
The circles promote teaching as a scholarly endeavor and are composed of a group of faculty members who research and discuss topics that strengthen teaching and learning. Each circle presents a proposal to the MUW faculty and information discussed in each Teaching Circle is shared with the MUW community via the website.
