MUW’s Ward receives invitation to New Orleans literary festival

COLUMBUS, Miss. - Dr. James Ward has been selected to participate in an Authors Showcase as part of the 2008 Tom Dent Literary Festival. The event will be held Friday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m., in the New Orleans Public Library. Ward is professor of political science at Mississippi University for Women and the coordinator of the public administration certificate program. 

The festival, named for the late New Orleans writer and historian Thomas Covington Dent, is a three day event highlighting the work of contemporary African American authors. The showcase will feature Ward’s most recent book, “Fuhrer’s Heart,” along with two other authors followed by a question and answer session with the audience.

Ward received his doctoral degree in political science and his MPA from the University of Cincinnati and his bachelor’s degree in journalism and sociology from the University of Mississippi. He has published more than 21 journal articles and book chapters andwas recently elected to the board of directors of the Southeastern Conference on Public Administration (SECOPA) for 2008-2010.
