Hilliard named 2008 Humanities Teacher of the Year
COLUMBUS, Miss. - Dr. Bryan Hilliard, assistant professor of philosophy at Mississippi University for Women, has been named the 2008 Humanities Teacher of the Year by the Mississippi Humanities Council. Each year this award is given to one teacher at each Mississippi institution of higher learning.
As part of his receiving this award Hilliard will present his lecture, “Pain, Pregnancy and Death: Should the U.S. Supreme Court Protect Patients, Families and Physicians,” Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. in Painter Hall room 113. A reception will immediately follow the presentation. Both lecture and reception are free and open to the public.
Hilliard received his doctoral degree in philosophy and master’s degree in philosophy and medical ethics from the University of Tennessee. He received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and history from Elon College. Hilliard has co-edited and authored three books including his most recent publication The U.S. Supreme Court and Medical Ethics: From Contraception to Managed Health Care (Paragon House, 2004).
