MUW’s Culinary Arts Institute holds cooking contest
with Cabot
Creamery
COLUMBUS, Miss. - Mississippi University for Women’s
Culinary Arts
Institute will host an iron chef cooking contest on
Saturday. The event,
which is sponsored by Cabot Creamery of Vermont,
will begin at 9 a.m.
Five students will compete in the contest, which
will require them to
cook for four hours. They will be judged on
creativity, taste, appearance and plating.
The students were selected last semester based on
recipes that they
submitted.
Each of the recipes had to feature Cabot Cheese as a
key ingredient.
Cabot Creamery is a Vermont based dairy and cheese
company that has won numerous awards for its line of
cheeses and butters.
The judges for the event are Tammy Craddock of
Jubilations of Columbus,
Chef Bill Mullins of Harvey’s, Chef Susanna Johnson
of Santa Fe
Steakhouse, Roger Busby with Sodexho and Chef Erich
Ogle, an instructor
at MUW.
Judging for the contest will begin at 1 p.m. A prize
of $500 will be awarded to the first place winner.
First runner up will receive $250 and second place
will win $150.
