MUW art faculty accepted to annual Bi-State
Competition
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Robert Gibson, chair of the
Department of Art and
Design, and Tom Nawrocki, professor of art, at
Mississippi University for Women, have had pieces
accepted to the annual Bi-State Competition in the
Meridian Museum of Art.
Gibson had three pieces accepted:
“Prayer House 1”--mixed media/wood sculpture
“Prayer House 4”--mixed media/ wood sculpture
“Intimately Tied”--mixed media/paper, wood, metal
Nawrocki had two pieces accepted:
“Ziz Zag Zig 31”--both are shaped dimensional
digital prints, editions of three
“Ziz Zag Zig 26”--each, combining linear and
curvilinear elements
The exhibition reception will be held Saturday from
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the award ceremony and
presentation to follow. The exhibition will be up
the month of April.
Nawrocki also has had prints accepted into other
competitions: The 60th Anniversary Exhibition of
Prints, The Boston Printmakers, Gordon College,
Gloucester, Mass. This competition will travel in
the United States and Europe through 2010 and is
currently in Bristol, R.I. The Harnett Biennial of
American Prints, Joel and Lita Harnett Museum of
Art, University of Richmond Museums, Richmond, Va.
Two-hundred-eighty-four artists entered this show
but only 31 artists from 22 states were selected to
participate
