MUW Theatre Department invites community to ‘Tony n’
Tina’s Wedding’
COLUMBUS, Miss—One of the longest running
Off-Broadway shows in history will soon be making
its debut in Columbus. Mississippi University for
Women’s Department of Theatre will present “Tony n’
Tina’s Wedding,” starting on Wednesday, Feb. 27,
running through Friday, Feb. 29.
“Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding” takes the form of
interactive dinner theatre, focusing on the wedding
day of Italian sweethearts, Tina Vitale and Tony
Nunzio.
Audience members will also play the roles of wedding
guests at the show. A different performance is
guaranteed each night based on “guests’ ”
interactions with the cast.
“This show is more of an experience than a
performance,” said Senior Communication/Theatre
major Tracy Power, who plays Tina Vitale. “The
interactivity allows actors and audience members to
create relationships with one another in a safe
environment with various levels of participation.
[The production] is a unique opportunity for the
people of Columbus to participate in a new and
innovative form of theatre.”
A unique feature of the show is that there are two
on-site performance venues. The wedding ceremony
will take place at Carrier Chapel located at the
front of the MUW campus. Following the ceremony will
be a reception across the street in Cochran Ballroom
where guests will be served a meal prepared by the
MUW Culinary Arts Institute.
All performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Admission for
the performances is $25. Tickets can be purchased by
calling 662-329-7260.
