Events planned for Women’s Health Awareness Week
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women’s
Master of Science in Health Education Degree Program
and Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle are
sponsoring several luncheon presentations to
correspond with Women’s Health Awareness Week.
On Tuesday, Oct. 23, dermatologist Bethany Hairston
will lead the seminar “Getting in Touch with Your
Skin.” The first 64 tickets are free but must be
reserved in advance. The luncheon begins at 11:30
a.m., while the presentation begins at 12:10 p.m.
The next day, Wednesday, Oct. 24, motivational
speaker Nancy Coey will present her
nationally-recognized program “What Would Happen if
I DID Remove the Mattress Tag?”
According to Coey’s website (www.nancycoy.com), the
program is said to “help you remove self-limiting
behaviors and show you the way to step into the jet
stream which is waiting for you, only an inch away.”
The program’s main goal is to show attendees how to
become “effective women [who] are willing to discard
the unnecessary, let go of things that hold them
back, and start living with purpose in the present.”
Coey has served as the National Spokesperson for
“What Women Put Up With,” sponsored by Spirit of
Women and Kimberly-Clark, a keynote speaker at the
Snowmass Institute, and a “High Tea” speaker at the
Red Hat Society National Convention for three years
in a row, among other honors.
The program will begin at 12 p.m., with a book
signing immediately following the presentation. The
tickets for this event are $10 and must be purchased
in advance.
Then on Thursday, Oct. 25, gynecologist Pamela Lacy
will present “Cancer – What Women Need to Know.”
Like Tuesday’s presentation, the first 64 tickets
are free, but must be reserved in advance.
All of the presentations will be held in the Pope
Banquet Room in upstairs Hogarth.
