Art professor wins Best of Show
COLUMBUS, Miss. - Shawn Dickey, Mississippi
University for Women assistant professor of art, won
Best of Show for his dimensional screenprint
“Perils: The Glass Alibi” at the Meridian Museum of
Art’s 34tth annual Bi-State Art Competition.
This is the second time that Dickey has been chosen
as Best of Show. He also won in 2002. Dickey’s work
will be added to the Meridian Museum of Art’s
permanent collection, and it will be featured in an
exhibition at the museum next year.
Dickey joins Mississippi artist Ke Francis as the
only artists in the 34-year history of the
competition to have received the award twice.
The competition featured 62 works form Mississippi
and Alabama artists.
