Endowment to provide full nursing scholarship at MUW
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Ann Moore of Houston, Texas,
recently established an endowment to provide a full
nursing scholarship at Mississippi University for
Women.
She established the Exie Carlisle Ory and Llewellyn
Earl Ory Scholarship fund in memory of her aunt,
Exie Carlisle Ory, class of 1917, and her uncle.
Moore did not attend MUW, but lived with her aunt
and uncle when she started nursing school. She
attended St. Joseph School of Nursing School in
Houston, Texas, and graduated in 1946.
The retired certified registered nurse said the
scholarship is an opportunity for her to honor her
aunt and uncle and give back to the field of nursing
due to a shortage of nurses.
In 2007-2008, the Exie Carlisle Ory and Llewellyn
Earl Ory Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving
student in the College of Nursing, who is from
Mississippi and is enrolled in the Bachelor of
Science in Nursing Program with a minimum 3.0 grade
point average.
For more information about this and other
scholarships or how to establish a scholarship fund,
please call MUW’s Office of Development at (662)
