COLUMBUS, Miss. – Three Mississippi University for
Women faculty members from the Department of Art &
Design recently had works accepted to the 34th
Annual Bi-State Art Competition.

and associate professor of art, submitted two mixed
media pieces, while Alex Stelioes-Wills, assistant
professor of art, submitted two oil paintings.
Assistant Professor of Art Shawn Dickey submitted
two screen prints.
The Bi-State Art
Competition is a juried exhibition presented by the
Meridian Museum of Art. The purpose of the
exhibition is to showcase contemporary artists in
Mississippi and Alabama and reward their efforts.
The competition offers more
than $3,000 in awards and prizes, with $1,000 for
the piece deemed Best of Show. This piece will then
be added to the Meridian Museum of Art’s permanent
collection, and the winning artist will be featured
in an exhibition at the museum the following year.
The winners will be announced on March 24 at an
awards reception for the artists and their friends.
