MUW senior and graduate place in MPA 2006 Better
Newspaper Contest
COLUMBUS, Miss. – A Mississippi University for Women
student and August 2005 graduate recently placed in
the 2006 Better Newspaper Contest sponsored by the
Mississippi Press Association.
Lyn Brantley, a senior graphic design major from
Clinton, received third place for Best Single Retail
Ad Black & White.
Alumna Annie Ladner garnered first place awards for
Best Automobile Ad and the Best Single Retail Ad
Black & White. Ladner, who is originally from
Picayune, earned a bachelor of fine arts with an
emphasis in graphic design.
Brantley and Ladner are employed at The Commercial
Dispatch.
The Mississippi Press Association Better Newspaper
Contest is held each year to endorse and recognize
excellence among Mississippi’s daily and weekly
newspapers through competition. The context is
divided into two divisions—editorial and
advertising.
Founded in 1866, the Mississippi Press Association
is a trade organization, which represents
Mississippi daily and non-daily newspapers published
at least once a week with general, paid circulation.
