Keller receives new book contract
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Dr. James Keller, professor of
English, recently received a new book contract from
McFarland for a work titled “V for Vendetta:
Allegory and Intertext.”
The work examines the multiplicity of cultural
references from which both the graphic novel and the
film are constructed, references that include
painting, music, literature, history, politics and
medicine. The film includes an appropriation and
parody of previously existing texts by Goethe,
Dumas, Shakespeare, Shelley and many others.
The book will be completed in 2007 and released in
2008 and will be Keller's fifth monograph.
Keller chairs the Department of Languages,
Literature and Philosophy.
