MUW Alumni Association Advisory Committee to be
expanded
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Based on a strong support and
desire to be involved in the future of Mississippi
University for Women, alumna Andrea Godwin Overby
has requested of MUW President Claudia A. Limbert
that the Alumni Association Advisory Committee she
will chair be expanded.
Overby, a 1968 alumna and past president of the MUW
Alumnae Association, will head the committee, which
will recommend to the university administration the
focus and structure of the MUW Alumni Association.
“I look forward to working with a new alumni
advisory group whose focus will be to find the very
best way for alumni to serve MUW. I believe that all
alumni sincerely desire to support our university
and to be of service to those responsible for
implementing its programs.
“In my opinion, MUW offers the best opportunity in
Mississippi for young women and men to receive an
excellent education in a smaller campus setting. We
have a unique and special treasure in The W, and
alumni have an exciting role to play in preserving
The W’s future for the students of Mississippi. Our
committee looks forward to exploring new ideas for
alumni involvement.”
Dr. Limbert said a healthy and participatory alumni
association is vital to the success of MUW.
“I look forward to the work of the Advisory
Committee under the leadership of Ms. Overby,”
Limbert said, noting that she envisions an
association that is more inclusive, future-focused
and one that will offer more programs and services
for its members.
