Miss W pageant to be held Feb. 10
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Miss W Scholarship Pageant, a
local preliminary to the Miss Mississippi Pageant,
will be held in Rent Auditorium, Whitfield Hall, at
Mississippi University for Women on Saturday, Feb.
10 at 7 p.m.
This year, four contestants will vie for the Miss W
crown. Participants will compete in several
segments, including a private interview, an evening
gown competition, an on-stage question section, as
well as swimsuit and talent segments.
This year’s Miss W contestants are:
Lindsay Frost, a sophomore marketing major from
Bankston, Ala. Frost’s platform is “Adoption
Awareness.” The daughter of Phillip Frost and Mary
Raines, she will sing as part of the talent portion
of the competition.
Carrie Pennington, a junior English education major
from Caledonia. Pennington’s platform concerns
“Raising Awareness for Premature Birth.” The
daughter of Eddie and Donna Pennington, Carrie will
play the piano as her talent.
Lauren Jee, a freshman English major from Greenwood.
Jee’s platform focuses on mentoring in after school
programs. Jee, the daughter of Darrell and Vicki
Jee, will perform a contemporary jazz dance routine
during the competition.
Stephanie Frake, a junior culinary arts major from
Geismar, La. Frake’s platform focuses on finding a
cure for breast cancer. Frake, the daughter of John
and Glinda Frake, will sing and play guitar to an
original song.
Ashley Owen, the reigning Miss W, will crown the
winner. Miss W 2007 will represent MUW in the Miss
Mississippi Pageant on July 14 in Vicksburg.
Tickets are currently on sale for $5 in the Student
Life office on the second floor of Cochran Hall.
