associate professor of English honored
COLUMBUS,
Miss. – Dr. Gloria Bunnell, associate professor of
English at Mississippi University for Women, is the
recipient of this year’s Mississippi Humanities Council
Humanities Professor of the Year honor.
She received a bachelor of
arts in English from MUW before continuing her education
at Mississippi State University where she earned her
master of arts in English with an emphasis in English as
a second language and a Ph.D. in English education in
1999.
Bunnell has been with MUW
for 10 years and currently teaches English education and
children’s literature courses. Prior to teaching in
Columbus she taught at the University of South Alabama,
United States Sports Academy and Jeong Song Languages
School in South Korea.
As a part of this
recognition, Bunnell will make a public presentation on
Monday, Oct. 30 in Painter Hall, room 113 at 6 p.m. Her
subject will be “Harry Potter and Celtic Fairylore.”
A reception will be held
immediately following the presentation.
The presentation is open
to the public as well as all MUW faculty, staff and
students.
