Jenkins appointed to state education commission
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- The Mississippi State Board of
Education recently appointed Dr. Hal Jenkins II, interim
dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences at
Mississippi University for Women, to a four-year term on
the Commission on Teacher and Administrator Education,
Certification and Licensure Development.
Jenkins was nominated by the Board of Trustees of State
Institutions of Higher Learning to represent all IHL
teacher education programs.
The commission is charged with the approval of all items
that impact educator licensure in the state. It also
considers applications for exceptions to licensure
policies and recommendations for cancellation of
individual licenses.
All commission actions are then sent to the State Board
of Education for final approval.
The commission is made up of 15 members that represent
the various education stakeholders in the state.
