MUW to
host 29th annual Business Week
COLUMBUS,
Miss. – The College of Business at Mississippi
University for Women will host the 29th
annual Business Week Sunday, June 4 through Friday, June
9.
The theme of
this year’s camp will be “Rising to the Top!” All eighth
through 12th grade students are encouraged to
apply.
Business Week
is a weeklong residential summer camp designed to teach
students critical skills for succeeding in business.
College
of Business students and faculty will be working with
the campers in teams helping them to learn business
fundamentals including market research, computer
applications, product development and presentation
skills. Campers will also have the opportunity to
participate in a business plan competition sponsored by
the College of Business.
Extracurricular activities scheduled for the week
include a talent show, dance party, movie night,
scavenger hunt and ropes course exercise.
MUW Business Week has had
close to 3,000 participants since it began in 1977, and
it continues to be the only program of its kind in
Mississippi. It was designed to promote an understanding
and appreciation of America’s free enterprise system.
Dr. Balazs, interim dean
for the College of Business, said “We are looking
forward to this year’s business camp. The emphasis will
be on learning, team building and news skills. We have
seen a positive response [in the past] and have room for
more. It is a great opportunity to visit MUW and have a
mini-college experience.”
The fee for
this year’s camp is $225, which includes room, board and
all extracurricular activities. A $50 discount will be
offered to children of MUW employees and a sibling
discount will be available for families that enroll two
or more children.
Applications are available
at each college on the MUW campus as well as online at
the address listed below. Students may also see their
school counselor for more information and an
application. Applications and payment are due by June 1.
