MUW Chorale presents spring concert tonight
COLUMBUS Miss. -- The MUW Chorale will present a spring
concert tonight at 8 p.m. in Poindexter Hall.
The performance is a part of several activities scheduled
for Homecoming weekend.
Director Tom Jenkins said, “The Chorale will begin the
concert with a collection about love and perhaps the lack of
it.”
The Columbus GirlChoir will take the stage with some
favorites, both sacred and secular, and the performance will
conclude with “the always powerful Mozart as the Chorale
sings, accompanied by strings, movements from `The Solemn
Vespers,’ Jenkins said.
Peppy Biddy, chair of the Department of Music and Theatre,
said, “We are pleased to host the string quartet as part of
our Chorale concert. They will add a beautiful and exciting
element to the event. The Department of Music and Theatre
has been an active and visible part of Homecoming for years.
On Friday, we will showcase our choral group, and on
Saturday night we will present an encore performance of `The
Foreigner.’ I hope all the alums will come see the fantastic
work our students are doing."
The event is free, but seating is limited.
