MUW annual health fair Wednesday
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women’s
Department of Health and Kinesiology will encourage
the community to “COMMIT TO BE FIT” during its
annual health fair on Wednesday, Feb. 22 in the
Bubble on campus.
The event, which is also supported by the MUW
nursing department, will start at 9 a.m. and end at
noon.
More than 70 vendors will participate and provide
services. Health screenings and fitness testing will
be available including blood pressure, blood sugar,
body mass index, height/weight, bone density,
vision, body composition, flexibility, muscular
strength, muscular endurance, aerobic capacity and
hip/waist ratio. There will be an $8 charge for
cholesterol screenings.
There also will be a tae kwon do presentation by
students from Oliver Miller’s studio in Columbus,
and door prizes will be given away throughout the
day.
MUW President Claudia A. Limbert will welcome guests
at 9:45 a.m.
Dr. Joyce Yates, Emma Ody Pohl Endowed Chair and
coordinator of graduate studies in the Department of
Health and Kinesiology, said, the event will be “a
fun day for health and wellness on the MUW campus.”
