Dickey’s artwork included in various shows
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Assistant professor Shawn Dickey of
Mississippi University for Women recently had some of his
artwork displayed at various shows.
Currently Dickey’s art is being shown at the Danforth Museum
of Art in Framingham, Mass., Slocumb Galleries at East
Tennessee State University and the University Art Gallery at
California State University.
Since the beginning of 2006, Dickey’s work also has been on
display at the College Art Gallery at the College of New
Jersey as well as the Creative Arts Center in Burbank,
Calif.
The shows are open to the public, but those interested in
attending should contact the individual gallery for more
information.
Dickey has taught at MUW since 1998. He started as a
full-time instructor after doing some adjunct work in 1996
and 1997. Currently he is in a tenure track position as an
assistant professor for the Department of Art and Design.
He has produced dimensional screen-print triptychs,
otherwise known as screen-prints in an edition and/or
multiples, for the past four years. He described this three
dimensional type of art as being created in layers and based
on early Christian altarpieces.
In addition to creating this type of art, Dickey has worked
as a printmaker since 1986.
