MUW Hearin High School Leadership Conference today
COLUMBUS, Miss. - High School students will once
again flock to the campus of Mississippi University
for Women to attend the annual Hearin High School
Leadership Conference.
About 120 students from Mississippi, Alabama,
Tennessee and other states are expected to attend
the conference today, which is themed Your Ticket to
Leadership.
During the conference, students will participate in
various workshops and hear from guests, including
nationally acclaimed speaker Curtis Zimmerman.
Zimmerman started his entrepreneurial career at the
age of 12, marketing and self-managing himself as a
mime and juggler. He has made a career as a
professional entertainer and lecturer specializing
in topics of performance optimization, leadership
and goal setting.
On Saturday, students will be able to interview for
Hearin and W-Hearin scholarships.
To be eligible to attend the conference, students
must have at least a 2.5 overall high school GPA and
have demonstrated leadership skills in their school
or community.
Current MUW students, who are Hearin Leaders, will
facilitate the entire conference.
The Hearin Leadership Program, which involves
coursework as well as community service and other
leadership events, was established by a generous
grant from the Robert M. Hearin Foundation.
