Oppenheimer selected Woman of the Year 2005 by
American Biographical Institute
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Governing Board of Editors for
the American Biographical Institute recently
selected Dr. Bonnie Oppenheimer for the title of
Woman of the Year 2005.
Oppenheimer, associate professor of mathematics at
Mississippi University for Women, was selected for
this prestigious award, which only a few women are
chosen for each year, due to her overall
accomplishments and contributions to society.
She noted the editor-in-chief personally recommended
her for this award after reviewing her credentials
in 2000 Notable American Women.
In addition to teaching, she serves on various
campus committees and is the Faculty Senate vice
president.
Outside of work, she is the principal oboist for the
Starkville/Mississippi State University Symphony and
supports the Starkville Community Theater where she
works on sets and appears on stage.
She also is a Bradley Method Natural Childbirth
instructor and president of the Women of Reform
Judaism (WRJ) District 15 and WRJ North American
Board member.
