Poet
Richard Beban to visit MUW
COLUMBUS,
Miss. – Poet Richard Beban will be at Mississippi University
for Women all day on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
He will visit campus as part
of his promotional book tour of the Southeast. His second
Red Hen Press book, “Young Girl Eating A Bird” was released
Oct. 9.
Beban will begin the day by
teaching assistant professor of English Bebe Barefoot’s
creative writing class at 9 a.m. He also will present on
ecopoetry for Emma Richardson’s Mississippi School for
Mathematics and Science creative writing students at 3 p.m.
A presentation at 4:30 p.m.
will be open to the entire campus. It is titled “How Poetry
and Film Use the Same Devices.” The discussion will take
place in Painter Hall, Room 209.
Beban will be available to
meet with students informally or read for classes between 10
