Keller receives seventh book contract
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Dr. James Keller, professor of
English, received his seventh book contract over the
summer for his nearly complete manuscript titled “The
Cinematic Hunger Artists: Food, Film, and Culture.”
The manuscript is a series of essays tracing the
metaphorical significance of food production,
preparation and consumption in contemporary film. The
essays relate the depiction of food to the issues of
class, race, gender, ethnicity and nationality and
traces the literary antecedents for many of these
cinematic representations.
Keller also has contributed preface to the forthcoming
manuscript, “Believing in the Book: False Medieval
Authority in Contemporary Fiction” by medievalist
Gwendolyn Morgan of Montana State University.
