Keller receives seventh book contract

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Dr. James Keller, professor of English, received his seventh book contract over the summer for his nearly complete manuscript titled “The Cinematic Hunger Artists: Food, Film, and Culture.”

The manuscript is a series of essays tracing the metaphorical significance of food production, preparation and consumption in contemporary film. The essays relate the depiction of food to the issues of class, race, gender, ethnicity and nationality and traces the literary antecedents for many of these cinematic representations.

Keller also has contributed preface to the forthcoming manuscript, “Believing in the Book: False Medieval Authority in Contemporary Fiction” by medievalist Gwendolyn Morgan of Montana State University.
