Joyce guest speaker at University of Cincinnati School of Art

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Dr. Beverly Joyce, assistant professor in the Art and Design Department at Mississippi University for Women, was the guest speaker at the University of Cincinnati's School of Art Visiting Artists and Scholars Lecture Series in May.

The paper, "To the Threshold of the Absolute: The Philosophical Underpinnings of Edward Burne-Jones's Art," concentrated on the 19th-century pre-Raphaelite painter's interest in German idealist and romantic literary theories as well as the influence of Italian Renaissance philosophy in his art.

Joyce will present another paper on Burne-Jones at the annual Southeast College Art Conference in October in Little Rock, Ark.
