Outstanding science and math students recognized at MUW awards ceremony

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women recently held its annual awards ceremony where outstanding students were recognized by academic divisions.

The Division of Science and Mathematics presented three awards.

Stefanie Garner of Columbus was named the outstanding student in mathematics as well as the outstanding student in physical science. Garner is a double major in mathematics and chemistry.

Amrita Balachandran, an international student from India, garnered the outstanding student in microbiology honor. She is a microbiology major with a minor in chemistry.

The awards ceremony was held at Pope Banquet Room in Hogarth Dining Center.
