Thurmond earns ETS Recognition of Excellence

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women student John Thurmond of Columbus recently earned the Educational Testing Service Recognition of Excellence for his recent outstanding performance on a PRAXIS II test.

Thurmond’s test score ranked among the top 15 percent of candidates nationwide who took the assessment in previous years. The PRAXIS II test is a professional assessment for beginning teachers.

“This achievement indicates a high level of proficiency in an area critical for professional educators,” his certificate stated.

Thurmond is a senior elementary education major.
