THINK ABOUT IT
Tomorrow’s Big Ideas Start with Destination ImagiNation®
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- We’ve got sports tournaments and
spelling bees, but a tournament that awards kids for
being creative problem solvers? It’s here! Local
tournaments for Destination ImagiNation®, the world’s
largest creativity and problem solving program, are
scheduled for Saturday, April 9 at Mississippi
University for Women starting at 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Six
hundred-plus kids from our local community will be
showcasing their outside-the-box solutions to the
official Destination ImagiNation® Team Challenges, and
scoring extra points for thinking on their toes in the
Improv Challenge.
“Destination ImagiNation® is a school and
community-based program that teaches kids the process
associated with creative problem solving,” said Bob
Purifico, executive director and president of
Destination ImagiNation, Inc. “Creative thinking is a
lifelong skill that prepares children for the
ever-changing world like no other activity can.”
Children from kindergarten through college participate
in Destination ImagiNation®.
The next generation of big thinkers will participate in
Destination ImagiNation® State Finals Tournament on
April 9 at MUW. This includes teams from all over
Mississippi. Fifteen teams from our state will be
chosen to compete at Global Finals, which takes place at
the University of Tennessee/Knoxville at the end of May.
Destination ImagiNation® is a program of Destination
ImagiNation Inc., which facilitates the program in 50
states and 15 countries and Canadian Provinces
worldwide. Destination ImagiNation® celebrates its
