MUW IMAGE program to host Minority Day
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Increasing Minority Access to
Graduate Education (IMAGE) program at Mississippi
University for Women will host Minority Day Friday,
March 11.
At least 150 students from Mississippi, Alabama and
Tennessee are expected to attend the program geared
toward recruiting area high school juniors and seniors
and community college students.
Iika Taylor McCarter, diversity education and programs
director, said IMAGE wants minority students to see what
MUW has to offer.
“MUW is a wonderful university, and we want to show it
in the best light,” she said. “I think that if we put
our best foot forward, students will know that MUW
strives to suit everyone.”
Minority Day will kick off with registration and
academic displays in Hogarth Student Center at 10:30
a.m.
Participants will learn about applying for admissions,
financial aid and scholarship opportunities, for those
who meet criteria.
Campus tours, a picnic and social fest will take place
in the afternoon.
“The students need to come ready and eager to learn
about MUW,” McCarter said. “IMAGE has put a lot of work
into making this year’s program a huge success.”
