MUW Health Fair to feature more than 60 vendors
COLUMBUS, Miss. – More than 60 vendors will attend Mississippi University for Women’s annual Health Fair on Wednesday, March 2 in the temporary gymnasium also known as the Bubble.
The event, which is sponsored by the Division of Health and Kinesiology and supported by the Division of Nursing, will start at 9 a.m. and end at noon.
Free health screenings and fitness testing will be administered. Blood sugar and cholesterol testing will be available for a total of $8 and will require fasting after midnight prior to the fair.
Winners of the Commit To Be Fit All Star Contest also will be announced at 10 a.m.
Pfizer, a participating vendor, will conduct a survey to determine cardiovascular risks profile of patients in the area.
The company will use the information “to determine appropriate interventions and assist in patient education.
Master’s of science in health education student Quanikki Allen of Canton, said, “I expect the campus and community to get health knowledge and take advantage of the services provided by the vendors. We’re praying for good weather and a good crowd.”
