FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Jan. 28, 2005 Contact: Anika Mitchell Perkins (662) 329-7124 Limbert to serve on Commission on Colleges COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women President Claudia Limbert has been elected to serve as a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Her term began January 2005 and concludes December 2007. As a commissioner, Limbert is one of a 77-member body elected to represent about 785 institutions that are members of the Commission on Colleges. In this important capacity, she will help determine Commission policy, review and make decisions regarding the accreditation of institutions and do the initial review for any proposed dues changes or modifications to the criteria of the Commission. In addition, she was elected as one of 12 to the executive council of the Commission on Colleges. The term is for one year, and she is eligible to three one-year terms on the council as long as she continues as an elected commissioner. The executive council serves as the executive body of the Commission and has responsibility for developing procedures and policies, supervising the work of special and standing committees of the Commission and initiating new programs, projects and policy proposals. Each executive council member also serves as the state chair of the commissioners within his or her state.
