Miss Phi Beta Sigma Scholarship Pageant Oct. 7


COLUMBUS, Miss. – Thirteen Mississippi University for Women students will compete in the Miss Phi Beta Sigma Scholarship Pageant on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7:14 p.m.
   
“The purpose is to find an elegant young lady who will uphold the title of Miss Phi Beta Sigma, and we want to start a new scholarship program on the campus of MUW from the men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.,” said Tovoris Cunningham, president of the Alpha Omicron Alpha Chapter.
   
Contestants will compete in casual wear, swimsuit, evening wear and interview. The winner will receive $500, a crown and trophy.
   
Students competing are Schnada D. Jones, Ardarian Gilliam, Demetris Brazzle, Rita Webber, Alana Robertson, Amanda Grace, Shelise Lindsey, Katreece Ellis, Brittany Hamilton, Glenda Clark, Crystal Blair, Kolena Maxwell and F. Jha’Nae Brady.
   
Cunningham said, “The audience can expect a night of elegance and entertainment in the most prestigious manner.”
   
The event will be held at Whitfield Hall in Rent Auditorium. The cost is $3 at the door.
