FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sept. 28, 2004 Contact: Anika Mitchell Perkins (662) 329-7124 Free employment training workshop Sept. 30 COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Golden Triangle Employment Expo is just around the corner, and individuals who want to put their best foot forward that day should attend a free employment training workshop on Thursday, Sept. 30. The workshop, which is being provided by various community sponsors, will be facilitated by Theresa Green-Ervin, MUW career services director. The workshop is titled “Strategies for Showcasing Your Skills” and will cover resume writing, interviewing and projecting a professional image. There will be two workshops to accommodate work schedules. The first will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the second from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the Columbus-Lowndes Development Link Auditorium located at 318 Seventh St. To register for the workshop, call (662) 328-8369. The Golden Triangle Employment Expo is Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Trotter Convention Center. There is no admission fee. Local and national job fair recruiters will be on hand, Ervin said. Positions will be available in all disciplines such as professional, engineering, business, computers, construction, communications, education, medical, transportation and many other areas. Last year more than 50 employers and 1,500 job seekers attended the event, according to Ervin. “This is an excellent opportunity to market your skills to a wide variety of companies,” she said. “Come dressed to impress, bring your resume and be prepared to interview for positions and complete job applications.” The Expo is open to all students and the public.
