Recording artist Josh Kelley to headline MUW Welcome Week

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women has plenty in store for students, both old and new, and the local community this August.

Recording artist Josh Kelley, whose music falls under the genre of rock, is the headliner of the first day of events for MUW’s Welcome Week 2004.

Kelley will perform Friday, August 20 at 7 p.m. on the Bryan Green as part of a concert sponsored by the MUW Foundation, Student Programming Board and Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi Golden Triangle.

He recently released his first major CD, “For The Ride Home,” on Universal Records. His hit “Amazing” peaked at 79 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and lasted more than 19 weeks on the chart.

Critics describe Kelley’s music as ‘soulful’ and ‘soft melodies that make for the perfect chill-out tunes.’

Welcome Week 2004 begins Friday morning with residence hall move-in and culminates Thursday, August 26 with An Evening of Improv at 7:30 p.m. in Cromwell Auditorium.

The weeklong event has an abundance of activities such as picnics, movie, sports, karaoke and speakers that are free and open to the public.
