mention from Favorite Recipes Press
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women’s Alumnae Association
received an honorable mention from Favorite Recipes Press (FRP) for the
marketing campaign of the cookbook “Southern
Grace Recipes and Remembrances from The W” during the third annual FRP
Sales & Marketing Awards Program.
The group utilized alumni throughout the state to open more than 70
wholesale accounts of the book. They also had a successful pre-sales
campaign and debut parties in association with the University’s numerous
alumni chapters in Mississippi.
Patsy McDaniel, director of alumni relations, said, “The book exceeded
our expectations.”
The FRP Sales & Marketing Awards Program was developed to recognize FRP
publishers for their hard work. Marketing award winners received a
framed collage of 2003 marketing materials and a variety of materials to
contribute to their promotional efforts.
McDaniel said the book brings time-honored recipes and contemporary
Southern cuisine together in a book that reflects the rich traditions of
MUW. The 200 recipes featured in “Southern Grace” are favorites
submitted by MUW alumni and friends. Culinary Arts Institute Director
Sarah Labensky and students tested the recipes.
“It is a great marketing tool for MUW,” McDaniel added.
