MUW to host W Day for prospective students
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Mississippi University for Women Office of
Admissions will host its annual W-Day on Saturday, March 27. The event
is designed to familiarize prospective high school and junior college
students with MUW.
“As students are starting their college search, W-Day provides that
first opportunity for them to actually visit a college campus and learn
about the aspects of the university,” said Terri Heath, director of
admissions.
This year the event promises to be both informative and entertaining.
>From campus tours to a crawfish picnic, visitors will have a chance to
get acquainted with MUW.
During campus displays that will take place on Shattuck Lawn, the
students will meet members of academic divisions, campus organizations,
social clubs and community supporters.
The Masker Washboard Band and United Harmony Gospel Choir will give a
musical performance on Shattuck Hall porch.
The students will attend information sessions about the university,
financial aid, student affairs, academic programs and residence life.
Each session will be presented by a faculty/staff member of the
particular division or campus office.
There will be campus and residence halls tours. During roommate roundup,
students will meet with potential roommates and learn more about each
other.
The day will conclude with the Boilin’ Hot crawfish picnic on Shattuck
Lawn.
According to Heath, 150 students from across the state and the
surrounding area are expected to take part in the event.
