Free vehicle inspections available to MUW students as part of Spring
Break Survival Kit
COLUMBUS, Miss. – In an effort to provide students with a safe and
enjoyable spring break, the Student Services department at Mississippi
University for Women will provide vehicle inspections with the help of
Premier Ford Lincoln Mercury.
Students will be able to get their vehicles inspected free of charge by
a Premier Ford specialist on Wednesday, March 3. Spring break is March
8-12.
“Last year, Mike (Fittes) from Premier Ford did a great job making sure
every problem students had with their cars was taken care of,” said Joe
Lowder, MUW director of student involvement.
Aside from receiving vehicle assistance, the students will be given a
Spring Break Survival Kit with contributions from the MUW Career Center,
AutoZone, McDonald’s, Sonic and Papa John’s.
The kit will include helpful information on road trip safety, health
tips for traveling abroad, safe weight loss, sun protection, hydration
tips, reducing the risk of date rape, substance abuse, as well as
non-alcoholic drink recipes.
Linda Halbert, MUW director of counseling and testing services, said,
“Not only do we want our students to arrive safely to their
destinations, we want them to be equipped to make smart choices while
they are away from home.”
Those interested in having their vehicle inspected need to bring it to
the front of Hogarth Student Center between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
For more information, please contact Halbert at 329-7349 or Lowder at
329-6974.
