Davidson to serve as national visitor for specialized accreditation in nursing

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Dr. Janice Unruh Davidson, professor and director of  the graduate nursing program at Mississippi University for Women, has been appointed by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) to begin service as a national visitor for specialized accreditation in nursing.

The NLNAC, an autonomous arm of the National League for Nursing, seeks to assure quality for the future of nursing education by serving as the only specialized accrediting agency in nursing that evaluates both
post-secondary and higher degree programs leading to master’s degree, baccalaureate degree, associate degree, diploma and practical nursing preparation.

"NLNAC has the historical edge in specialized accreditation in nursing, having provided such leadership since 1893. Because I have always advocated for ongoing quality improvement in nursing education, I am eager to begin serving this historic accrediting agency for all types of nursing education," Davidson said. "The work that NLNAC has done to repurpose their accreditation services ultimately translates into better health care for the public."
