MUW’s career services director receives noteworthy honors

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Theresa Green Ervin, director of career services at Mississippi University for Women, has been appointed to a professional development board and recognized as a young Mississippi leader.

Ervin was appointed to the Mississippi Association of Colleges and Employers (MACE) board in the position of director of information technology and marketing. She will produce a quarterly newsletter, submitting news to the Southeastern Association of Colleges and Employers and maintain the organization’s web site.

MACE is composed of career service professionals from two and four year colleges and universities and employers who are involved in the recruitment of students for cooperative education and full-time career opportunities. The mission of MACE is to build a greater understanding and cooperation between colleges, universities and employers in their combined placement efforts, to foster professional development and to promote high standards of ethical practices.

Ervin also was selected as one of the outstanding young Mississippians to participate in Leadership Mississippi. This is a program that seeks to identify and train Mississippi’s young business and professional leaders and to involve them in improving Mississippians quality of life.

In November, she will join Cedrick Gathings, assistant director of residence life, to facilitate a presentation titled “Taking Inventory of Your Toolbox: Strategies for Managing Your Career” at the annual Southern Association for College Student Affairs Conference, which will be held in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
