Hunt receives Ruth Robinson Endowed Chair of
Education at MUW
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women Professor Barbara
Hunt is the recipient of the Ruth Robinson Endowed Chair of Education.
This position was started in 1992 when the executor of the estate of
Ruth Robinson Smith of Winona made the education program of MUW a major
beneficiary. Smith attended The W for two years and was a teacher for 39
years.
In order to receive this honor, an educator must be a full professor,
have a record of outstanding teaching, scholarly achievement, and campus,
community and state leadership.
“I feel very proud because my peers recommended me based on my work in
the field of elementary education within the division, in the community
and in the state," she said.
“The main responsibility (of this position) besides instructor of
professional educational courses and advisor, is being a liaison with
community colleges in order to recruit students for our education
program,” she added.
Hunt has 25 years teaching experience and has taught at The W since
1995. |
