Dr. Betcher to speak at MUW Senior Convocation
COLUMBUS, Miss.-- Mississippi University for Women alumnus Dr. R.
Edward Betcher will return to his alma mater Tuesday, Sept. 9 to speak at
Senior Convocation.
Betcher will discuss how seniors' experiences, inside and outside the
classroom, have prepared them for the future. Despite changes in the
world, they have changed too, he noted.
"They are prepared to go out in the real world. Don't worry about
taking the next big step in their lives."
Betcher graduated from MUW in 1988 with a bachelor of science in
nursing with a pre-medicine emphasis. Betcher continued his education at
the University of Mississippi Medical Center, receiving a doctorate of
medicine in 1993. He performed his obstetrics and gynecology residency
with the Carilion Health System in, Roanoke, Va., from 1993-1994.
Currently he works at the Physicians and Surgeon's Clinic in Amory and
holds appointment at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. He also has an
office in Columbus.
Betcher is a member of the Mississippi State Medical Association, the
Northeast Mississippi Medical Society, the American Association of
Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American Medical Association and the
Virginia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. Betcher is a fellow of the
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
He is a member of the MUW Foundation Board and the MUW Alumni
Association Board. He served on the MUW President's Advisory Council from
1998-2003.
Senior Convocation will be held at Whitfield Hall in Rent Auditorium at
11 a.m. |
