MUW faculty recognized for accomplishments
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women faculty recently
have been recognized for various accomplishments.
Pat H. Matthes has been elected to the Board of Directors of the
Southeastern Library Network. Matthes is currently the director and
professor of library services.
Dr. William Parker, professor of biology in the Division of Science and
Mathematics, has received two publications in the June issue of
Herpetological Review. One dealt with feeding in rat snakes and the other
discussed mating in water snakes. Parker is in his 13th year as managing
editor of the international Journal of Herpetology. He has authored or
co-authored more than 40 journal articles, special publications, symposium
articles and book chapters on the ecology of lizards, snakes and turtles.
Dr. Bob Seney, professor of gifted studies and director of the
Mississippi Governor's School, has been selected by the National
Association of Gifted Children to serve a three-year term on the Board of
Directors of the National Association for Gifted Children. Seney's board
duties will begin Nov. 11-15 at the annual conference in Indianapolis,
Ind. While there, he will present a session titled "What's New in Young
Adult Literature: 2003 Edition." Recently, he was named a mentor in the
NAGC Professional Development Program and has served as one of the
co-chairs of the Middle Grades Division.
MUW Division of Nursing Tupelo faculty members Kathy McShane, Jolyn
Cooke and Almetria Poole were presenters at the first Nursing Outcomes
College session. They conveyed information on communication scenarios and
empowerment strategies for North Mississippi Medical Center nurse managers
and educators. The session was held in conjunction with NMMC Nursing,
Clinical Outcomes and MUW nursing faculty. |
